It hasn’t been easy for the Marion Scarlett Hurricane against the Richlands Blue Tornado. In a series that dates back to 1930, Richlands holds a decisive edge in the series.
How decisive? Richlands is 41-17-1 all time against its Smyth County neighbors. That’s good for a .703 winning percentage.
Marion has won only twice in the last 22 meetings (2001 & 2017), and haven’t won at Ernie Hicks Stadium since a 17-3 victory on Nov.…

Richlands (3-3) used a pounding run game on their way to a third consecutive shutout against Tazewell (2-4) on a Friday night Pink Out game.
The dominant performance of the night came on the legs of senior running back Trey Brown.…

The Tazewell Bulldogs (2-3) will make the short trek down 460 West to battle it out with their archrival Richlands Blue Tornado (2-3).
Richlands is coming off a loss to arguably the best football team in West Virginia.…

In one of the marquee matchups in the Coalfields, the Beavers of Bluefield will travel to Ernie Hicks Stadium to take on the Richlands Blue Tornado on Friday night.
These two teams are no stranger to success.
Richlands has enjoyed a run a winning seasons and deep postseason runs that spanned over a decade.
Bluefield is a WVSSAC AA stalwart, winning nine state titles in Wild & Wonderful West Virginia.…

Richlands’ leading receiver returned from a dislocated elbow in the week two matchup with Union to help lead the Blue Tornado past the William Byrd Terriers.
Byrd — which honored the life and memory of a fallen classmate before the game — came out strong, marching the ball straight down the field behind sensational quarterback Samuel Dantzler.…
