Coming into Friday night’s Mountain 7 District showdown with Union, junior linebacker Alijah Sproles was brimming with confidence. “They (Union) better be ready,” said an excited Sproles after the victory over Wise Central last Friday. “We will be.”
The Wolfpack were indeed ready. In a masterful defensive performance that would make some of coach Rick Mullins’ Clintwood teams of days gone by proud, the Wolfpack defeated the perennial power Union, 27-14.… 
Before the 2018 VHSL football season started, a lot of hype centered around Ridgeview tailback Trenton Adkins. The Wolfpack sophomore exploded onto the scene during his freshman campaign, where he rushed for nearly 1,500 yards. During the offseason, the offers began mounting up for Adkins at an impressive rate. The speedy tailback already has offers on the table from Tennessee, Penn State, Florida, North Carolina and the University of Texas at San Antonio.…

What promised to be yet another showdown between bitter arch rivals, turned into a no doubter before a half of play had concluded. The Ridgeview Wolfpack had no problem with the Warriors from Wise County Central, trouncing them by a final tally of 54-0.
The win for the Wolfpack, along with the Union Bears triumph over Letcher County Central, sets up a battle for the ages atop Rose Ridge next Friday night. …
