Perhaps no one outside of the picturesque towns of Pound and Wise could have predicted the outcome of Friday night’s contest between the Ridgeview Wolfpack and the Wise Central Warriors. In week three of the regular season, the Wolfpack had dispatched the Warriors with ease 41-20. Trenton Adkins ran through the Central defense and made it look simple on his way to a six touchdown performance on that September evening. Richlands scored early and often, dispatching the Virginia High Bearcats 59-21.
The Blues (6-4, 4-1) used a prolific offensive attack that accounted for 539 yards of offense to run past the Bearcats (1-9, 1-4). While the Bearcats’ season ends, Richlands blows into the playoffs as the 5 seed in the Class 2D bracket.

Central (7-2) at Grundy (4-5)
A win tonight in Buchanan County could take the Central Warriors to heights they have previously been unaccustomed to. Grundy alum Luke Owens has the Warriors rolling into Buchanan County with a 7-2 record, having won its last four contests.
The four game winning streak ties a program best from 2011 when the Warriors were able to defeat Lee, Johnson County, TN, Union and Eastside in back-to-back-to-back-to-back weeks in their inaugural campaign. … Read the rest
Wise Central continued to stay on their recent tear Friday night as they piled up 410 yards on offense to upend the Blue Devils 35-21 in a playoff like atmosphere at Legion Field in Gate City.
Gate City (4-6, 2-4) came in to Fridays contest with a three game winning streak while Central (7-2, 4-2) had recorded three straight wins themselves. Running out of the Wing-T, the three headed monster in Centrals backfield racked up 375 yards rushing behind the blocking of the Warriors athletic offensive line.… Read the rest
After their big win over Ridgeview, the Union Bears were blindsided by the Wise Central Warriors last Friday night on the road in Norton. In upset fashion, the Warriors ran past the Bears 21-13.
“We didn’t play well, we shot ourselves in the foot.” Stated Union head coach Travis Turner. “Give them credit, they played extremely hard and we didn’t do a very good job coaching.”

Fresh off of their biggest win of the season over Ridgeview, Union knows they control their own destiny en route to a Mountain 7 title.

The much hyped Mountain 7 District showdown between Ridgeview and Wise Central turned into another scintillating episode of the Trenton Adkins show.
Adkins scored all six of the Wolfpack’s touchdowns on Friday night and racked up another 366 yards on the ground in the process. Through three contests, the junior has already broke the 1,000 yard mark for the season.
