Undefeated Narrows to host Grayson County

Photo Credit – Chris Lang The Narrows Green Wave have rolled through the 2019 regular season with ease. In his 17th year as the head coach of the Wave, Kelly Lowe has led his team to a 10-0 record. That marks the first undefeated season since 1979 for the team that calls Ragsdale Field home. But that’s not the only milestone that Narrows has reached this year. Green Wave, Spartans prepare for Giles County Throwdown

The town of Narrows will look like a ghost town Friday. Why you may ask? All of the Green Wave faithful will be at Stephen C. Ragsdale Field in Pearisburg. Narrows (3-0) will travel five miles up route 460 to face their arch rival, Giles (0-3). While the series is lopsided in Giles’ favor, this is always an exciting game with a huge turnout. Narrows, Chilhowie set for Battle of 1A Powers

The Narrows Green Wave has been lights out this season. In fact, the Green Wave has yet to allow a point. In week one, they shut out Auburn 14-0. In week two, they blanked the Northwood Panthers 37-0. Kelly Lowe has his squad off to a big start in 2019. Chase Blaker and Chad Blaker put on a show against Northwood in Narrows home opener a week ago. Galax thumps Narrows in Region C rematch

In 2017, the Region 1C championship between the Maroon Tide and Green Wave was a nail-bitter that ended with a 28-27 Galax victory. The two met up again in this year’s regional championship, but the Maroon Tide had control of this game before it even hit halftime. Galax (11-2) racked up 402 yards of total offense and held Narrows (10-3) to just 67 total yards of offense. Blake Brown rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Maroon Tide over the Green Wave 55-0.… Read the rest

Maroon Tide, Green Wave set for Region C rematch

This time last year, Galax and Narrows were preparing to go to battle for the Region 1C championship. In a game that came down to the final seconds, the Maroon Tide escaped Ragsdale Field with a 28-27 victory over the Green Wave. Narrows avenges regular season loss to Fightin’ Blues

In the final week of the regular season, Parry McCleur (7-5) defeated Narrows (10-2) 35-34 to claim a share of the Pioneer District title. In the second round of the Region 1C playoffs, the Green Wave got revenge on their district foe, as they rolled the Fighting Blues 56-28. Matthew Morgan accounted for three scores in the Green Wave victory. Narrows jumped out to a 14-0 lead as Morgan scored twice from one-yard out.… Read the rest

Green Wave seeks revenge as they host the Fighting Blues

Two weeks ago, Narrows (9-2) lost their regular season finale on the road to Parry McCluer (7-4) in a mud bowl. The Wave, who are seeded second in Region 1C, battled back from a 28-12 deficit and took a 34-28 lead late in fourth. Marcellius Dawson scored for McCluer with under a minute remaining to top Narrows 35-34 and win a share of the Pioneer District title. The win also moved McCluer up from the sixth seed to the third seed.… Read the rest
