Bears prepared to face much improved Gate City

Gate City made a splash throughout Southwest Virginia in week 1 with a 34-29 victory over Richlands at Ernie Hicks Stadium. Since then the Blue Devils (1-3, 0-2) have cooled down a bit. Coach Jeremy Houseright’s team took Abingdon down to the wire in week 2 but since have suffered two lopsided defeats. That result looked shaky in the first quarter. Abingdon (2-2) opened the game with an 80-yard drive that ate up 8 minutes and 42 seconds off the clock. Rebels, Raiders set to clash in Bradshaw

  Hurley (2-1) at River View, WV (1-3) In a Battle of the Rebels a week ago, Hurley drew the short end of the stick. Mark Palmer won his first game against Hurley at the Cliff last Friday as Patrick Henry cruised to a 40-20 victory over Austin Cooper’s Hurley squad. Twin Valley, Northwood set for a battle of the Panthers

Twin Valley (1-2) at Northwood (0-2) The amount of Panthers will be plentiful on Friday when Twin Valley travels from Oakwood to Saltville to take on Northwood.  Twin Valley looks to obtain its second win of the season after a 54-8 loss to Honaker last Friday night in Buchanan County. The loss to the Tigers dropped Jeremy Ward’s squad to 0-2 in Black Diamond District play this season.
