Green Wave seeks revenge as they host the Fighting Blues

Two weeks ago, Narrows (9-2) lost their regular season finale on the road to Parry McCluer (7-4) in a mud bowl. The Wave, who are seeded second in Region 1C, battled back from a 28-12 deficit and took a 34-28 lead late in fourth. Marcellius Dawson scored for McCluer with under a minute remaining to top Narrows 35-34 and win a share of the Pioneer District title. Galax, Pickett thumps Mustangs in first round

Cole Pickett threw four touchdown passes and ran for another to lead Galax (9-2) to a 55-8 victory over Eastern Montgomery (3-8). When the post season gets here, you can expect Galax to turn it up a few notches. Since 2010, the Maroon Tide holds a 22-7 playoff record. The top-seeded Maroon Tide played host to the Mustangs for the first round of the Region 1C playoffs. Freeman, Narrows crash the Wave on Eagles

Wyatt Freeman finished with 266 total yards to lead Narrows (9-2) to an 18-7 victory over Auburn (5-6) in the first round of the regional playoffs. Like the game in week one, this was a low scoring contest but this time the Eagles had to play from behind. Auburn led Narrows 21-7 when the two played the first time. Appomattox bounces Giles for third straight year

For the third straight year, Giles (5-6) fell to Appomattox (9-1) in the playoffs. The Raiders showed that despite having a young team, they still have a chance at making it to the state title game for the fourth straight year. Appomattox thumped the Spartans 35-6 at Bragg Stadium to advance in the regional playoffs. Maroon Tide looks to drown the Mustangs

Top-seeded Galax (8-2) hosts Eastern Montgomery (3-7) for the first round of the Region 1C playoffs. Since 2010, the Tide have been a constant threat at the Class 1A level. Head Coach Mark Dixon is to thank for that. From 1986-2009, Galax only appeared in the playoffs four times but never went further than the second round. Radford, Fort Chiswell set for Thursday night football

When you talk about teams having turn-around seasons, Radford is at the top of the list. After finishing 2-8 in 2017 and not making it to the playoffs, the Bobcats finish this regular season 9-1 with the top seed in Region 2C. Last week gave them their seventh straight win as they defeated Glenvar, 17-7 and returned home as champions of the Three Rivers District. Appomattox looks to continue streak against Giles

The regular season is over with and the post season begins. Win, and you get to play another week. Lose, and you get to pull out the basketballs. The last two seasons Appomattox (8-1) has been responsible for Giles (5-5) pulling the basketballs out early. In 2016, Giles fell to the Raiders 45-21 in the second round. The Green Wave and Eagles are set battle in the first round of the Region 1C playoffs. This game will be a rematch from week one where Narrows (8-2) came from behind and topped Auburn (5-5), 23-21. The Wave fell to Parry McCluer last week, 35-34 and had to share the Pioneer title. Radford stuns Glenvar for Three Rivers title

When Bradey Loader broke loose for an 80-yard touchdown on the first play of the game, it looked like Glenvar (9-1, 5-1) might blow out the Bobcats. Radford (9-1, 6-0) never gave up another score and P.J Prioleau sealed the 17-7 victory over the Highlanders on a seven yard touchdown run with 5:05 remaining. The Bobcats left Salem as the Three Rivers District champions for the first time since 2009. For the second year in a row, Glenvar suffered their first loss of the season, while playing for the title.… Read the rest

Narrows falls to Parry McCluer in regular season finale

After trailing 28-6 in the second quarter, Narrows (8-2, 4-1) rallied back and scored 28 unanswered against Parry McCluer (6-4, 4-1). Down 34-28, McCluer running back Marcellius Dawson scored from one yard out with 43 seconds remaining. Jacob Wooten booted the extra point, giving the Blues a share of the Pioneer District title with a 35-34 victory over the Green Wave.
