Graham and Union set for another playoff showdown

Region D, 2A Semi Finals Graham G-Men (10-1, 5-0) 3-seed at Union Bears (9-2, 4-2) 2-seed   Two of the most successful Region D programs in recent memory will meet this week. The Graham G-Men travel to Big Stone Gap to take on the Union Bears in the Region D semi finals. Graham hosts Virginia High in Region D quarterfinals

The lone Saturday game in the opening round of the Class 2, Region D playoffs features a Week 8 rematch between the Graham G-Men (9-1) and the Virginia High Bearcats (5-5). The first contest between the two teams back in October, saw Cam Allen lead the G-Men to a 44-7 rout of the Bearcats. Allen tallied four total touchdowns as Graham turned in a dominate second half performance in the blowout win, after leading 16-0 at halftime.… Read the rest

Graham blanks Richlands, 45-0

Graham and Richlands have played football since 1926. Thursday night’s 45-0 win over the Blues was the largest win ever in the series for the G-Men. The previous margin? Graham 30, Richlands 0 way back on Oct. 7, 1932. Let that sink in. Graham could do no wrong. Richlands could do no right. Blues, G-Men set for matchup of Southwest District powers

The mood tonight inside Mitchell Stadium will be a mixed bag. On one hand, you have the marquee game of Tazewell County, as well as the Southwest District. On, the other, you have a team in Blue who will have heavy hearts following the death of one of their classmates earlier this week. CoalfieldSports.com Week 7 DPOTW: Graham’s Cameron Allen

Here in the Coalfields we are blessed with an abundance of exceptional athletes. Maybe none are more exceptional than Graham’s senior quarterback/defensive back, Cameron Allen. The G-Men’s senior leader proved that on the field last Friday when they defeated their Southwest District opponent Lebanon, 50-13. Allen only played the first half of the game, but was still able to finish with 10 tackles and a 54-yard interception return for a touchdown.… Read the rest

Bearcats welcome G-Men for SWD battle

  In a game that was moved from Thursday to Friday because of inclement weather from Hurricane Michael, the Graham G-Men (5-1) are set to take on the Virginia High Bearcats (3-3) in Bristol. Early in the season, this matchup was circled on many calendars as a potential game to decide a favorite in the Southwest District. Graham has emerged as the front-runner in the SWD after reeling off five straight victories while the Bearcats are in the midst of a two-game skid.… Read the rest

Graham takes SWD win over Lebanon

Lebanon knew they’d have to be aggressive and take some chances if they were to compete with Graham. Friday night’s SWD clash started off with an onside kick as the Pioneers tried to steal a possession from the G-Men. Graham fielded it and brought it back to the the Pioneer 44 yard line. On the first play from scrimmage, Graham WR Devin Lester came in motion and took the hand-off. His carry brought the ball down to the six yard line before Lebanon S Cole Stoots made a touchdown saving tackle.… Read the rest
