Warriors visit Grundy to take on the Golden Wave

Central (7-2) at Grundy (4-5) A win tonight in Buchanan County could take the Central Warriors to heights they have previously been unaccustomed to. Grundy alum Luke Owens has the Warriors rolling into Buchanan County with a 7-2 record, having won its last four contests.  The four game winning streak ties a program best from 2011 when the Warriors were able to defeat Lee, Johnson County, TN, Union and Eastside in back-to-back-to-back-to-back weeks in their inaugural campaign. … Read the rest

Scammell, Grundy look to rebound against Chilhowie

Grundy (4-3) at Chilhowie (6-1)  The first seven weeks of the season have provided two completely different results for the Grundy Golden Wave. After starting the season 4-0, Craig Plymal’s squad has dropped three in a row. The losing skid is the longest of Plymal’s tenure as the head coach of his alma mater. Burton (4-2) at Grundy (4-2)  Two very familiar foes are set to do battle on Friday night at Nelson Memorial Stadium in Grundy.  The Raiders and the Golden Wave have met up three times in the past two seasons. Grundy (4-0) at Honaker (2-1) The winner of this matchup will be the favorite to win the Black Diamond District in 2019.  Grundy blanked East Ridge, KY a week ago 48-0 to get to 4-0 for the first time since 2016. It was the same song and dance for the Golden Wave in week four that it has been all season. Rye Cove (1-0) at Hurley (1-0) Both teams are coming off wins over out of state opponents leading into Friday’s matchup at the Cliff. Rye Cove is coming off its first opening week victory since a 72-62 win over Holston back in 2014. However, the Eagles did not have to work hard for its first victory. Buchanan County trio set for Friday’s kickoff

Grundy at Twin Valley   In 2014, Twin Valley went to Nelson Memorial Field and handed Grundy a 28-0 loss. It is the only win for the Panthers in the 13 meetings that date back to 2001. The head coach for Grundy on that night in 2014 is now the headman in Oakwood.
