Tornado, Bruins set for battle before Hurricane Florence

The Richlands Blue Tornado (1-1) and the Blacksburg Bruins (3-0) like many teams in the area pushed their game back to Thursday in efforts to get the game in before Hurricane Florence pours down on the region. However, in the case of the Tornado and the Bruins, there was another variable added to the mix. Hurley hosts RiverView in first home contest of 2018

  vs. After a heartbreaking loss in Shawsville in week two to Eastern Montgomery, the Hurley Rebels traveled across state lines in search of redemption. However, the Rebels retreated back from the bluegrass state of Kentucky with a similar result.   Hurley dropped to 1-2 on the season after a 45-6 thumping at the hands of Pike County Central last Friday. Northwood, Twin Valley set for Battle of the Panthers

   vs.    After starting out 2-0, the Twin Valley Panthers dropped their first contest a week ago against the Honaker Tigers. In a battle between cats, the Tigers proved to be superior as Honaker tailback Trevor Dye’s four touchdown dashes led the Tigers to a 47-8 victory over Twin Valley.   For Twin Valley, their lone touchdown of the evening came from a familiar face. Hurley looks to bounce back against Pike Central

A bus trip from Hurley to Shawsville is no Sunday drive. It is even worse when you blow a 12-point lead. That was the case for the Hurley Rebels this past Friday as they took on the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs. Dylan Owens found Justin Tyree on a seven-yard strike with 38.4 seconds left in the contest to give Eastern Montgomery their first lead of the game. Panthers, Tigers meet for BDD Opener

  VS. Two undefeated teams will meet up in their Black Diamond District opener on Friday night. Fuller Field at EMats Stadium will be packed to the brim when the Twin Valley Panthers travel to take on the Honaker Tigers. Twin Valley has had a phenomenal season so far. Honaker is the first team from the Commonwealth of Virginia the Panthers have faced. Wave rolls toward Lebanon to take on Pioneers

    A week removed from a 40-12 interstate victory over the RiverView (WV) Raiders, Grundy travels to take on former Southwest District rival Lebanon.   Lebanon stands at 0-2 after falling in the Coal Bowl to Honaker, 35-28, in week one and taking a 48-8 thumping by the Lee Generals in week two.   Seth Stanley has run like a mad man for the Pioneers in the early onset of the season.… Read the rest

The way Grundy running back Gabe Fiser was moving Friday night, he probably could’ve outran the bus back across Route 83 on its trip back from Bradshaw. Behind Fiser’s 336 yards—a new Grundy school record—and three touchdowns, the Golden Wave returned from River View (WV) with a 40-12 victory.
