Union travels to Abingdon as they look to ground the Falcons

  The Union football team is coming off of a much needed bye week after suffering a 21-13 setback to the Wise Central Warriors on October 18th at Tommy McAmis Field in Norton. Pioneers, Titans set to tangle in Ewing

Twin Springs (4-4, 0-3) and Thomas Walker (6-2, 2-1) have quietly developed a nice little rivalry on the gridiron over the years. The teams have beaten on each other for quite some time and for the last 15 meetings, Thomas Walker has won eight of those contests while Twin Springs has been the victor in seven of the meetings. The Pioneers upset the Titans in 2015 in Ewing 26-21 but then Twin Springs followed with a 62-31 thrashing of the Pioneers in 2016.… Read the rest

Burton set to raid Clinchport to take on Rye Cove

  Both Rye Cove (4-4, 0-3) and J.I. Burton (6-2, 3-0) come in to this Fridays contest at the Eagles Nest riding winning streaks. Rye Cove has won two in a row while averaging 40 points per over the two wins. Burton is perhaps one of the hottest teams in Southwest Virginia as they have reeled off six consecutive victories, including a 28-7 victory over a pesky Castlewood squad last Friday night inside Lawson Fitchko Stadium.… Read the rest

Giles bounces Alleghany, prepares for Glenvar

Giles (2-6, 2-2) picked up their second win of the season on the road with a shut-out 54-0 win over Alleghany (1-7, 0-4). Leading the single-wing attack for Giles, was senior wingback Logan Greenway. Greenway carried the ball just eight times but racked up 137 yard and two touchdowns. The Spartans jumped out to a 21-0 lead over the Mountaineers in the first quarter. Big second quarter propels Eastside past Thomas Walker

  Coming in to Friday nights contest, much of the talk was about the matchup between the hard hitting linebacker Evan Bellamy from Eastside and the bruising running back from Thomas Walker, Kenny Ball. Both players put up great numbers as Ball rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown while Bellamy collected 11 tackles. However, Grayson Whited stole the show. Whited ran for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns to push his Spartans to their biggest win of the season, a 37-12 triumph over the visiting Pioneers.… Read the rest

Eagles soar past Panthers

Rye Cove improved to 4-4 overall on the year behind 4 total touchdowns from Mason Hardin and a stellar defensive effort that limited the Twin Valley offense to 50 total yards. Coming off of a stellar performance last week against Unaka, Hardin made sure to give an encore to the home standing crowd. Hardin threw a touchdown pass to tight end Andrew Jessee and ran for another three touchdowns on the ground.… Read the rest

Wolfpack claim share of Mountain 7 title with shutout of Falcons

Coming into Friday night’s Mountain 7 District showdown with the Abingdon Falcons, most Ridgeview fans, players and staff were expecting a tough battle.  It was anything but.  The Wolfpack offense eclipsed the 40 point plateau once again and the defense scored its first shutout of the season as the Wolfpack controlled from start to finish in a resounding 41-0 victory.  The victory over the Falcons assures the Wolfpack of no worse than a share of the Mountain 7 District title. … Read the rest
