Trojans, Pioneers prepare for battle

The John Battle Trojans hit the road for the third straight week as they travel north on route 19 to face the Lebanon Pioneers this Thursday. It will be the 33rd meeting between to the two squads with the first game being played in 1963. Lebanon currently leads the series 20-11-1. John Battle has won the last two meetings, including a 61-21 victory over the Pioneers last year on Battle Hill.… Read the rest

Trojans set for battle against undefeated Cavaliers

The John Battle Trojans look to crack the win column for the first time in 2018 as they travel to Damascus to take on the 2-0 Holston Cavaliers Friday. The Trojans are continuing their tour of Washington County. John Battle will play its third county rivalry game in as many weeks after dropping its first two games of the season to Abingdon and Virginia High. Bearcats shake off slow start, win fifth straight game over John Battle

The Virginia High Bearcats received some preseason hype from fans and coaches around the region. For the second consecutive week, the Bearcats have shown flashes of greatness but have also shown to be sluggish. In a complete reversal of week one, Virginia High started off a little out of sorts before taking off in the second half to pull out a 20-13 week two victory against the John Battle Trojans. The Bearcats were led by two-way standout, Aaron Rose, who had a carry for 0 yards in the first half.… Read the rest

Bearcats, Trojans battle for Bristol

  For the 56th consecutive season, the Virginia High Bearcats will play their county rival, the John Battle Trojans, this Friday night at Gene Malcolm Stadium. This will actually be the 57th matchup between the schools, as 2012 saw the teams play in the regular season and again in the playoffs, with Battle winning both games. Since 2000, Virginia High holds a 15-4 record against the Trojans and have a 44-11-1 edge in a series that dates back to 1963.… Read the rest
