CoalfieldSports.com Week 7 OPOTW: Thomas Walker’s Dawson Lee

The Ewing Livestock Market. The sand caves. Dawson Lee. Ask anyone from the Ewing, VA & they’ll tell you that those are three of their favorite mainstays. The latter of those three is a senior tailback for the Thomas Walker Pioneers. Last Friday, Thomas Walker defeated Hancock County 47-8 behind Lee’s eight carries for 173 yards and three touchdowns. Twin Valley set for showdown at Thomas Walker

Last week, the Twin Valley Panthers (4-3) welcomed interstate foe East Ridge from Kentucky to do battle in Oakwood on homecoming. The Panthers were in dire needs of breaking a two game losing skid with hopes of sneaking into the top eight of the VHSL 1D playoff rankings. Not only did the homecoming king and queen dance the night away at Twin Valley on Thursday night, but Tylor Keen, Brandon Lester and Xzavier Ward helped the Panthers dance to a 48-28 win over the Warriors from Kentucky.… Read the rest

Coalfield Sports DPOTW Week 4: Thomas Walker’s Jaron Warf

The Thomas Walker Pioneers were riding a two game win streak coming into their annual rivalry game with the Rye Cove Eagles.   Coach Nick Johnson’s team took that momentum across the Scott County line and extended their win streak to three with a 14-13 win over the Eagles from Duffield.   Neither team particularly lit up the scoreboard on offense in this defensive struggle, but one Pioneer defensive player shined bright on the night.… Read the rest
