The Green Wave and Eagles are set battle in the first round of the Region 1C playoffs. This game will be a rematch from week one where Narrows (8-2) came from behind and topped Auburn (5-5), 23-21. The Wave fell to Parry McCluer last week, 35-34 and had to share the Pioneer title. The Eagles finished their regular season with a 35-7 victory over Rural Retreat.
There is no secret as to what the game plan for Auburn will be; ground-and-pound.… 
After trailing 28-6 in the second quarter, Narrows (8-2, 4-1) rallied back and scored 28 unanswered against Parry McCluer (6-4, 4-1). Down 34-28, McCluer running back Marcellius Dawson scored from one yard out with 43 seconds remaining. Jacob Wooten booted the extra point, giving the Blues a share of the Pioneer District title with a 35-34 victory over the Green Wave.
McCluer got on the board first with a 13-yard pass from Zach Claytor to Bech Garrett.… 
Narrows (8-1, 4-0) hopes to return home Friday night from Buena Vista as back-to-back Pioneer District champions. While Narrows is the current front runner in the district, a loss to Parry McCluer (5-4, 3-1) would make the Wave have to share the title with McCluer and Covington. Narrows defeated the Fighting Blues last season 40-14.
Leading the Wave to an impressive 19-3 record since 2017 is senior quarterback Wyatt Freeman. Freeman is in the Timesland top 10 for passing yards. … 
Narrows (6-1, 2-0) got their first shut out of the season, defeating the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs (2-5, 0-2) to remain unbeaten in the Pioneer District.
Wyatt Freeman, who surpassed the single game passing record last week, threw for 143 yards and a touchdown through the air while adding one on the ground. In the first quarter, Freeman connected with wide receiver Chase Blaker. The Green Wave receiver shook off his defender and sprinted 75 yards for the Green Wave’s first score.… 
Last Friday was a huge night for the Green Wave. Not only did they defeat a tough Covington team with seconds remaining in their Pioneer District opener, they also broke a few records along the way. Quarterback Wyatt Freeman broke the single-game passing record, completing 17-of-26 passes for 308 yards. He also threw the game-winning touchdown with four seconds remaining in the game. This brings his passing totals to 53-of-87 for 906 yards.… 
Narrows (4-1) starts defending their 2017 Pioneer District title this week at Covington (3-2). The two teams played twice last season. Narrows won the regular season contest 48-18 and one more defeated the Cougars 21-0 in the second round of the playoffs. Covington seeks revenge, led by one of the top running backs in the Pioneer district.
In last week’s 56-14 victory over Nelson County, Covington had 454 total yards of offense.… 
Narrows (4-1) made an impressive run last season after their only regular season loss. Many wondered if they would be able to do the same after suffering their first loss two weeks ago. Narrows running back Matthew Morgan ended whatever doubt the Green Wave faithful had, as he rushed for 195 yards with three touchdowns. Narrows celebrated their homecoming night with a 34-14 victory over a much improved Holston squad.
Last year, Narrows defeated Holston 56-0.…
