This season, the folks at Coalfield Sports are picking five of the most intriguing matchups in the area to be the games of the week before you the fans select THE game of the week. Each week, Ryan and Brady, the hosts of the SWVASports Podcast will pick the five contests and be joined by a special guest each week. Graham takes SWD win over Lebanon

Lebanon knew they’d have to be aggressive and take some chances if they were to compete with Graham. Friday night’s SWD clash started off with an onside kick as the Pioneers tried to steal a possession from the G-Men. Graham fielded it and brought it back to the the Pioneer 44 yard line. On the first play from scrimmage, Graham WR Devin Lester came in motion and took the hand-off. His carry brought the ball down to the six yard line before Lebanon S Cole Stoots made a touchdown saving tackle.… Read the rest

Lebanon, Graham set for SWD bash

Graham (4-1) hosts Lebanon (0-5) as the Pioneers make the trip to Bluefield for a Southwest District match-up. The G-Men lead the series 2-0 with Friday night’s 7:00 pm kickoff being only the third game in their short history. Players to watch for Graham include:  Senior QB #10 Cameron Allen has committed to Purdue University. The dual threat QB has accounted for over 1,500 yds of total offense and 16 touchdowns so far this season.… Read the rest

Marion leaves Lebanon victorious

Lebanon got off to a good start as they tried to earn their first win of the season. Jackson Mullins returned the opening kickoff to the Marion 48 yard line giving Lebanon good starting field position. RB Seth Stanley got the Pioneer offense rolling with a nine-yard run. A couple plays later, QB Casey White connected with WR Cole Stoots in the end-zone to put the Pioneers up 6-0 within the first four minutes of the game.… Read the rest

Lebanon to host Marion in Southwest District opener

Lebanon (0-4) hosts Marion (1-3) on Friday night in what will be the Southwest District opener for both teams. Marion comes to town looking to break a two-game losing streak while the young Pioneers are searching for their first win of the season. Kick off is 7:00 p.m. in beautiful downtown Lebanon. The key players to watch for the Pioneers are RB Seth Stanley, WR Cole Stoots and QB Casey “Chief” White. … Read the rest

Trojans, Pioneers prepare for battle

The John Battle Trojans hit the road for the third straight week as they travel north on route 19 to face the Lebanon Pioneers this Thursday. It will be the 33rd meeting between to the two squads with the first game being played in 1963. Lebanon currently leads the series 20-11-1. John Battle has won the last two meetings, including a 61-21 victory over the Pioneers last year on Battle Hill.… Read the rest

Wave rolls toward Lebanon to take on Pioneers

    A week removed from a 40-12 interstate victory over the RiverView (WV) Raiders, Grundy travels to take on former Southwest District rival Lebanon.   Lebanon stands at 0-2 after falling in the Coal Bowl to Honaker, 35-28, in week one and taking a 48-8 thumping by the Lee Generals in week two.   Seth Stanley has run like a mad man for the Pioneers in the early onset of the season.… Read the rest

Preseason Poll: Southwest District

Welcome back to the sixth installment of our preseason poll series.
