When the Bluefield Beavers head to Wheeling this Friday for their meeting with the Fairmont Polar Bears in the WVSSAC AA state championship, the Beavers will be in familiar territory.
This season’s state championship berth marks the 17th time that Bluefield has appeared in the gold medal matchup.
Bluefield has taken home the hardware in 11 of those 17 appearances. Those 11 titles are tied with now defunct Ceredo-Kenova for third all-time for the most football state titles in West Virginia.… 
The Chilhowie Warriors have been setting records all season long.
The storied season watched the Warriors go 10-0 for the first time since 1971. The 12-win mark is the most in school history. The defense has allowed three passing touchdowns all season while only allowing 6.7 points a contest.
While Zack Cale and Greg Sanchez get the majority of the publicity for their star power on the offensive side of the ball, this defense is statistically the best in the area.…

As a senior, Stanley and the Pioneers finished 2-8 on the season.

Matthew Gibson has witnessed a lot of heartbreak in his four seasons as a Rye Cove Eagle.
0-10 as a freshman. 0-10 as a sophomore. 1-9 as a junior.
Wins for Gibson and the Eagles were few and far between. However, in Cheyenne Osborne’s return to the helm of Clinchport’s team witnessed a much-improved edition of the Eagles in 2018.
Behind senior leaders such as Gibson, the Eagles posted a 4-6 record and ended some long streaks in the process.…
