Hurley, Twin Valley & Grundy to Face Familiar Opponents in Week 2

Rye Cove (1-0) at Hurley (1-0) Both teams are coming off wins over out of state opponents leading into Friday’s matchup at the Cliff. Rye Cove is coming off its first opening week victory since a 72-62 win over Holston back in 2014. However, the Eagles did not have to work hard for its first victory. Buchanan County trio set for Friday’s kickoff

Grundy at Twin Valley   In 2014, Twin Valley went to Nelson Memorial Field and handed Grundy a 28-0 loss. It is the only win for the Panthers in the 13 meetings that date back to 2001. The head coach for Grundy on that night in 2014 is now the headman in Oakwood. Twin Valley set for showdown at Thomas Walker

Last week, the Twin Valley Panthers (4-3) welcomed interstate foe East Ridge from Kentucky to do battle in Oakwood on homecoming. The Panthers were in dire needs of breaking a two game losing skid with hopes of sneaking into the top eight of the VHSL 1D playoff rankings. Not only did the homecoming king and queen dance the night away at Twin Valley on Thursday night, but Tylor Keen, Brandon Lester and Xzavier Ward helped the Panthers dance to a 48-28 win over the Warriors from Kentucky.… Read the rest

Panthers defeat East Ridge on homecoming

The next several weeks are very crucial for the Twin Valley Panthers in their chase for a spot in the Class 1, Region D playoffs.  Coming into this past Friday’s interstate matchup with the East Ridge Warriors, the Panthers were on the outside looking in.  48 minutes of football later, the Panthers achieved a critical win on homecoming night over there 2A opponents by a final score of 48-28. It did not take long for the Panthers to get the action started as only three minuted into the contest, Brandon Lester took the pigskin in from five yards out. … Read the rest

After a record-breaking performance last Friday night, the Twin Valley Panthers are happy to be back in Oakwood tonight. Much to the dismay of the Panthers, they were on the wrong end of a record-breaking performance. In last week’s 50-16 loss to Grundy, the Panthers allowed Golden Wave tailback Gabe Fiser rush for 368 yards and six touchdowns. At the end of the day, the Wave outmanned the Panthers.
