In one of the marquee matchups in the Coalfields, the Beavers of Bluefield will travel to Ernie Hicks Stadium to take on the Richlands Blue Tornado on Friday night.
These two teams are no stranger to success.
Richlands has enjoyed a run a winning seasons and deep postseason runs that spanned over a decade.
Bluefield is a WVSSAC AA stalwart, winning nine state titles in Wild & Wonderful West Virginia.…

In the September 2017 matchup between the Tazewell Bulldogs and the Bluefield Beavers, there was no shortage of offense. Don’t expect 2018 to be any different.
The West Virginia State Champion Bluefield Beavers beat a young Tazewell team that night at Mitchell stadium to a final score of 62-27.
Kennedy Award Winner running back Mookie Collier is a member of the Marshall Thundering Herd and fullback Jason “Truck” Edwards is now a Pitt Panther.…

Coach Freddy Simon in his 33rd season has his Beavers back in the drivers seat, as Bluefield is ranked #1 once again in the WVSSAC AA rankings.… 
In front of packed house at Mitchell Stadium and thousands of viewers streaming the game at home, the Bluefield Beavers picked up right where they left off last season.
The 2017 AA state champions used a huge first half to put the annual cross-town rivalry game against the Graham G-Men out of reach. The Beavers won the first ever Coalfield Sports’ Game of the Week by a score of 38-14.
You could feel the electricity in the air as the captains met at midfield for the coin toss, presented by the Great American Rivalry Series & the United States Marines.…
