Preseason Poll: Hogoheegee District

Today is the final day of our district poll series. We’ll be releasing the remaining three districts today, starting with the Hogoheegee. The Hogo used to run straight through Wytheville. However, with George Wythe’s move to the Mountain Empire District, it’s opened the door for new blood at the top. Warriors travel to Rose Ridge in much anticipated Benefit contest

  Ridgeview Wolfpack VS. Chilhowie Warriors VHSL Benefit Game, Friday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m.   With a bevy of benefit games on the docket this week, perhaps the most anticipated of those will occur Friday night on Rose Ridge. The marquee features the defending 1A state runner up, Chilhowie Warriors and the Ridgeview Wolfpack. Union’s Travis Turner looks forward to 2018

Union High School has had one head coach since its inception in 2011. That coach is Travis Turner, whose name has been a staple in Wise County for decades. Turner, a native of Appalachia, was a star quarterback who won a state title as a signal caller under his dad, legendary coach Tom Turner. Virginia High to host Union in benefit game

On Thursday night August 16th, the Union Bears will travel to Bristol to take on the Virginia High Bearcats for 2018’s benefit game. This will be the second consecutive year that these two teams have locked horns in the final tune-up before the start of the regular season. Last year’s contest was closer than expected. It also served as a pretty accurate forecast of things to come. Union not only proved that they had one of the top high school football players in the state, they also proved they had a nearly impenetrable defense.… Read the rest

It’s that time again. Another Wednesday means another preseason poll. This week, we’ll look at the Mountain Empire District. Abingdon Spotlight: Head Coach Garrett Amburgey

There’s a new sheriff in town. His name is Garrett Amburgey.
