Just a short few weeks ago this was looked to be a very intriguing matchup between two teams with high aspirations. However, John Battle has since had some major setbacks. On top of the disappointing 1-3 record, the Trojans have been dismantled by injuries.

Hurricane Stadium will be the setting this Friday for a contest between two teams that are both hungry for a win.
The John Battle Trojans (1-2) will visit the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes(0-3) for a non-district match up. Although the schools are less than 40 miles apart, this will be the first game between the two teams since 1993, and only the 28th total match up.… 
The John Battle Trojans (1-1) will host the Holston Cavaliers (2-0 ) on Battle Hill this week in a non district matchup.
This Washington County rivalry has been historically dominated by the Trojans who lead the overall series 24-5-0. Last year the Cavs returned two kickoffs for touchdown in an effort to upset the Trojans, but the end result was no different. Dylan Cunningham scored three touchdowns to lead the Trojans to a 37-20 win in a long game that was delayed two hours by a lightning storm.… 
In a game filled with turnovers, penalties, and some anxiety at the end, the John Battle Trojans held off the Virginia High Bearcats Friday night to win against their arch rival for the first time in five years. The win also gave new head coach Bradley Ricker his first victory at the helm of John Battle.
A huge crowd turned out for what was WCYB’s first locally televised game in Southwest Virginia this season.…

For years, one of the most storied rivalries in Bristol has been Virginia High versus John Battle. The first meeting was in 1963 and they have played each other 57 times with Virginia High dominating the series. John Battle has not won in the series since 2013. This year the Bearcats will come to Trojan Field with both teams coming off huge losses. New to this year is that the entire game will be broadcast on Fox 39 as part of WCYB’s High School Friday Night Game of the Week.… 
The Abingdon Falcons reminded everyone Friday night why they are the defending Mountain 7 District champions.
In the first game of the season the Falcons welcomed the John Battle Trojans to Falcon Stadium. Abingdon picked up right where they left off last year, picking up 12 first downs and playing solid defense on there way to a 45 to 14 victory.
The Falcons’ senior halfback, Martin Lucas, showed balance and strength on his way to 130 total yards and four touchdowns.… 
Football in Southwest Virginia is full of great rivalries. This opening Friday night one of those long-time rivalries will continue when the Abingdon Falcons and the John Battle Trojans square off at Falcon Stadium in Abingdon, Virginia at 7:00 PM. Abingdon and John Battle have faced 60 times with Abingdon owning the series 42-16-1. As of late the Falcons have dominated with the Trojans only winning two of the last twenty seven meetings.… 
It’s football time on Battle Hill. After another season culminating with a trip to the post-season, the Trojans will enter 2019 trying to make it four in a row; this time under new head coach Bradley Ricker. Previous head coach Brit Stone led the Trojans to three straight playoff appearances. Coach Ricker has no intention of changing things.
