The Abingdon Falcons take their show on the road to Scott County to this Friday to take on the Gate City Blue Devils. Gate City looks to build off their upset win over Richlands last week, while the Falcons look to pick up where they left off in their 45-14 week one win over John Battle. Falcons claim Mountain 7 title with win over Lee

It was another rain soaked field for the second week in a row.  It was senior night and these seniors wouldn’t have it any other way.  The Lee High Generals were in town for a showdown with the Falcons who were riding high after knocking off district foes Ridgeview and Union in back-to-back weeks. Falcons top Bears to remain unbeaten in the M7

The rain was steady at Bullitt Park as Abingdon (7-2 5-0) and Union (7-2 3-2) took the field for a showdown to potentially decide the Mountain 7 district. The Falcons were back to their usual game plan.  Stifle the run, play gritty defense and take advantage of opportunities.  The Falcons did just that.  Union turned the ball over three times on their first four drives to open the game.  Abingdon capitalized on those turnovers but only put up nine points thanks to Graham Griffith’s 39-yard field goal in the first quarter and William Seymore’s score after the Falcons recovered a fumble deep in the Bears territory.… Read the rest

Abingdon Falcons’ linebacker William Seymore is back to full strength for his senior season. Seymore came back off season ending ACL surgery during his junior year. That means he wasn’t on the field last season last year as the Falcons made their run at the Region 3D playoffs.  He was limited to watching from the sidelines as Abingdon fell to Northside in round one, 7-0. Falcons stun Wolfpack in overtime 36-30

The first forty-eight minutes on Friday night were as exciting as any game in Southwest Virginia.  This game could be considered an instant classic as it came down to each teams possession in overtime. When the dust settled, the home-standing Falcons had more to cheer about at the final whistle, as Abingdon (6-2) pulled out the 36-30 victory over Ridgeview (7-1) on William Seymore’s 23-yard touchdown run. Last Week: Abingdon def. Virginia High, 14-6 Last Meeting: Abingdon def. Bye Week The Abingdon Falcons are on their long anticipated bye week this week.  No game scheduled for Friday comes at an opportune time for the Falcons and head coach Garrett Amburgey.  It’s a time for the team to heal some nagging injuries and hopefully get some players back.  Coach Amburgey and his staff will also be afforded the chance to go scout some upcoming opponents in person this week.… Read the rest
