Eagles to host Twin Valley in non district clash

Recent History suggests that this Fridays showdown between Twin Valley and Rye Cove could be a shootout. The two teams have lit up the scoreboard against each other over the last seven meetings. Twin Valley has won four out of those meetings with Rye Cove winning three. The Eagles won in 2012, 2013 and in 2018 by a combined 8 points in those three victories.

Rye Cove is 3-4 overall with the Panthers sitting at 2-5 overall. Neither team has yet to defeat a team from the state of Virginia this season with Rye Cove defeating Hancock County and Unaka from Tennessee and Jenkins from Kentucky. Twin Valley has defeated Montcalm and Craig County from West Virginia.

Rye Cove got a superb effort from Mason Hardin last week as he accounted for over 300 yards of offense and five total touchdowns. Matthew Hardin is also a load out of the backfield for the Eagles and also physical from his linebacker spot. Andrew Jessee is also a versatile player for the Eagles blocking from his tight end spot and zeroing in on ball carriers from his linebacker position. Tyler Darnell is another playmaker for Cheyenne Osbornes Eagles. Darnell churned out 154 rushing yards last week in a 60-42 victory over Unaka. Darnell also caught a touchdown pass from Mason Hardin.

Jeremy Wards squad from Pilgrims Knob has struggled moving the ball but has gotten big plays from tailback Xzavier Ward. The Panthers are coming off of a 38-6 loss last Friday against the Thomas Walker Pioneers.
