The Gate City Blue Devils make the journey from Scott County to Falcon Field in Abingdon this Friday. Gate City looks to find a winning formula, while the Falcons look to continue where they left off in a week one win over John Battle. The side note to this contest is that former Falcon head coach Darren Reed returns to Falcon Field as the defensive coordinator for Gate City.
New Abingdon head coach Garrett Amburgey has the Falcons soaring on offense with a balanced attack and playing gritty hard nosed defense on the other side of the ball.

Quarterback Gabe Boothe will certainly look to hook up with a corps of wide receivers that features deep threat Holt Dotson and speedy slot receiver River Carter. Boothe should have plenty of time to find targets behind the massive line anchored by 310-pound offensive tackle Gage Bassham. Look for running backs Sean Canada, Martin Lucas and William Seymore to carry the load from the backfield once again this week in Abingdon’s ground game.

The Falcon defense will be getting after the Blue Devils with their front seven, while the secondary will be keeping any air attack from happening. Jake Crosswhite and Seymore look to hold down the middle from their inside linebacker positions while outside linebackers TJ Taylor and Tyler Thayer provide containment on the edge. The defensive line will be in full force to control the line of scrimmage with Ethan Roark and Dylan Hale. Defensive backs Jadon Booth, Kenny Fields, Carter and Canada will roam the defensive backfield to slow down any air attack by the Blue Devils.
